Lets understand about ayurvedic doshas and its affect on our health. As we see that there is a definite rule/sequence of these five mahabhoot (Namely, Akash, Vayu, Agni, Jal, Prithvi). One special attention is here that every next element includes the attributes of the previous element. Along with this relation there is another relation between these mahabhoot, according to ayurved. On the basis of that relation there is a balance between the elements. This interrelation of these with its nearest element is the basis of which these elements help each other and establish harmony among themselves. Practically every element exists in isolation but without the union with other elements is not possible to prolong creativity. Therefore on this earth and the human body, these mahabhoot are revealed in combined form.

Understand about ayurvedic doshas
The pairs of controlling elements and their specific names are as follows:-
(i) Akash + Vayu = Vata
(ii) Agni Jal = Pitta
(iii) Jal + Prithvi = Kapha
The above each pair of mahabhoot help each other and balance among themselves and provide vital force to human body.
Vata, Pitta, Kapha attribute of Ayurveda
(i) Vata (Akash + Vayu) – The attribute is combine form of Akash and Vayu. We understand Akash in the nature as an expansive and universal element. Its extension is maximum but its activity is minimum. The nearest element to Akash is Vayu and it has maximum activity and is opposite to the nature of Akash. Practically Vayu is known for its activity and as a working force. In human body when there is a harmony between the Akash element and Vayu element then they help in the growth and development of the human body. On the contrary when the required harmony is not there between them i.e. any one element becomes excess and the other element is deficient in such case the body becomes unhealthy. To make balance between them one element is decreased and the other is increased.
(ii) Pitta (Agni + Jal) – The second attribute is Pitta, as we know that in the nature Agni and Jal are accepted as two opposite elements. For controlling the burning nature of Agni, Jal is required. On the other hand to reduce the basic attribute of Jal i.e. coldness, the help of Agni is mandatory.
(iii) Kapha- (Jal+ Prithvi) – The third element is Kapha, the element Jal is known for its fluidity while the element prithvi is known for its hardness. You must have seen that how a potter makes the pots by mixing water in the mud to make it soft or usable. A potter can only make pots when the mud i.e. prithvi element and Jal are mixed in such a manner that the pots can be given their shape. If in the mud if the water is excess or deficient, the pot cannot be made.
